Sewing is a recent endevour for me and this is the piece that started it.
I love spheres. I don’t know why. So, when I learned that children in medieval Japan played with hand embroidered balls, I knew I had to add one to my collection. Turns out, they make great Christmas ornaments.
Part of learning Japanese archery is learning to to wear formal kimono. Unfortunately, kimono are expensive and cannot be washed. So I decided to make my own.
Accessible Hakama
Putting on a kimono takes a lot of time and manual dexterity, making it difficult for both the elderly and those with disabilities. I decided to create a prototype for more accessible kimono pants (hakama). These are now in the second stage of prototyping as I’ve received multiple requests from kimono enthusiasts with disabilities around the world.
